The Czech Republic begins a good 200 kilometres to the north, beyond the Bavarian Forest. Within 250 kilometres of Holzkirchen there are 29 airfields in western and southern Bohemia: 11 airfields and 7 ultralight strips (SLZ) from the official VFR Manual, plus 11 further small strips as basic cards.
What applies to a German ultralight
A foreign ultralight may fly in the Czech Republic without permission if everything is in order: the type meets the Czech ultralight definition, valid airworthiness document from the home state, liability insurance, valid licence and medical, non-commercial, no test flights, VFR by day only (civil aviation authority ÚCL, as of May 2025). If any condition is not met, an application to the ÚCL is required.
The airfields below are public or private and are listed with operating hours, fuel and radio in the VFR Manual of the Czech air navigation service – freely accessible and up to date. The SLZ strips are strips of the Light Aircraft Association (LAA ČR) for ultralights; private strips only with the operator's consent. Their six-letter code (e.g. LKKAPL) is not valid in the flight plan. Almost all airfields operate only at weekends from mid-April to mid-October, otherwise by arrangement; radio in Czech, English usually works.
